Union Activities

         The college union was inaugurated on 9th July 2007 by Sri A.K. Tareen, Trade and Investment Director for India and South Asia, Govt.of Australia. He highlighted the significance of education and added "Learning should not be a process of being told, one should learn through discovery and innovations". The freshers’ day was celebrated on 3rd July 2007, and the seniors welcomed the freshers by presenting them variety entertainment leaving behind wonderful memories in the hearts of every one. World Environment Day was celebrated on 22nd July 2007. Shri D.K.Hari of Bharat Gyan and Shri. Amiritalingam a researcher in Ecology presided and 6 teams were able to disseminate a meaningful message on various topics like water, transport, biodiversity, waste management, energy and global warming.

         Sri Krishna Jayanthi, was celebrated on 3th September 2007. Dr. Laxmi Narayanan, Head of the department of Tamil, D.G.Vaishnav college spoke on the life and teachings of Lord Krishna. World Tourism Day was celebrated on 27th September 2007. Painting, Quiz and slogan writing competitions focusing on the theme, ‘World Tourism opens door for Women Entrepreneurs’, were conducted. Founders’ day was celebrated on 14th December 2007. Dr (Mrs) K.Rajalakshmi spoke on the noble and philantrophic contribution made by our founder chairman Shri. Nanalal Bhatt. Building pooja for the new building was performed on 14-12-07 and Ms. Mathioli Saraswathi participated.

         The Students of Vaishnav witnessed a live show of traditional folk art in "Chennai Sangamam" on11th January 2008. They were treated with 2000 years old of percussion, dance and the rhythmic beats was a feast to eyes and ears.

         With the deep sense of patriotism the tricolor flag was hoisted on Independence day and Republic day to honour the nationalistic feelings of our students and to remember the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters to uphold the honour of mother India. In connection with Sarvodaya day students wrote an examination on the autobiography of Mahatma Gandhi, "Sathya Sodhnai."

         Oil conservation day was celebrated on 30th January 2008. Ms. Shabeena, Assistant Manager, Petroleum Conservation Research Association spoke on the need for conserving energy resources.

         Human Rights Awareness Day was celebrated on 14th February 2008. Hon’ble Justice Thiru A.S.Venkatachalamuthy, Chairperson, State Human Rights Commission delivered the presidential address. Dr. P. Kandasamy, Principal, C.Kandasamy Naidu College delivered the special address and Ms. Sudha Ramalingam , Advocate, High Court, Chennai delivered the key note address. Our staff and students donated Rs 5000/- to Help Age India. They also donated Rs 18350/- to K.Hemalatha of III B.Sc. Computer Science for her medical treatment. Blood donation camp was organized on 5 th March 2008 in collaboration with Hindu Mission Hospital and Lions Club of Keelkattalai and 75 units of blood were donated. International Womens’ Day was celebrated on 8th March 2008. Ms.Girija Raghavan delivered the presidential address
