Attendance

All students must have a minimum 75% attendance for Arts, Science and Commerce courses (Aided and Self Supporting Streams) at UG, PG and M.Phil levels for both Theory and Practical papers.

Attendance requirement for writing end semester examinations (UG, PG, M.Phil).

3 Not eligible for Condonation of shortage of attendance 50% to 64% *Not permitted to appear for the regular examination.

* Has to compensate the shortage in attendance in the subsequent semester besides, earning the required percentage of attendance in that semester and appear for both semester papers together at the end of the latter semester.

*Allowed to proceed to the next year / next semester of the course and they be permitted to take next End Semester examination by paying condonation fee of Rs.250/- each for Theory/Practical examination separately.

4 Detained students for want of attendance < 50% *Allowed to proceed to the next year / next semester of the course and complete the course provided they produce medical certificates issued by the authorized Medical Attendant(AMA), duly certified by the Principal of the college.

*Repeat the semester which they have missed by rejoining after completion of final semester of the course.

*Permission letter to be obtained from University of Madras by paying the fee for the break of study.

  Condonation of Married women candidates 55% For married women students, condonation shall be relaxed and prescribed as 55% instead of 65%, if they conceive during the academic year.

Medical certificate from a government doctor and the prescribed fee for condonation should be collected from the candidate in order to appear for the examination


A candidate who has secured less than 65%of attendance in the final semester has to compensate his/her attendance shortage in a manner as decided by the concerned head of the department after rejoining the same course. Demand draft of Rs.250/- to be drawn in favor of “The Registrar, University of Madras” towards condonation fee.

Arrears Appearance

a) Any candidate having arrear paper(s) shall have the option to appear in any arrear paper along with the regular semester papers.

b) Candidates who fail in any of the papers in Part I, II, III, IV & V of UG degree examinations shall complete the paper concerned within 5 years from the date of admission to the said course, and should they fail to do so

Exam Fee

Candidates should pay the exam fees in the month of September for odd semesters and in the month of Febraury for even semesters.
