Department Profile

The UG Department of B.Com (Honours) established in the year 2011, offers the B.Com(Honours) under the self-financing stream. The department started its journey with 20 students and now it has grown to the level of educating 120 students in the self financing stream. There are 6 dedicated and experienced faculty in the self-financing stream.

Mission

The department has been imparting quality education in diverse areas relating to Commerce. The curriculum design is upgraded and enriched periodically to meet the challenges of the Corporate Sector. The department has instilled the core principles of responsibility and integrity amongst its students, and is striving for excellence. The department has signed MOU with Chartered Accountancy firms, Banking companies and Insurance companies etc, enabling the students to undergo internship in these companies.

Project & Viva Voce

· The students pursue their Project work covering different areas such as Marketing, Human resource Management and Finance in the VI semester.

· The Project is evaluated for 80 marks and 20 marks for viva voce

· Students are given 8 credits for Project and viva voce.

Skill Based Elective Paper

Capital markets theory and practice is offered in the IV Semester.

Computing skills paper is offered in the VI Semester.

Internship

• As a Part of the Academic Curriculum students undergo internship programme for a period of two weeks at the end of I, III and V semester and for a period of four weeks at the end of II and IV semester (till 2014-2017 batch).
• From 2015 batch onwards internship for a period of 35 days each in II, IV, V semester
• Students are given 14 credits for Internship.
